Girls Creating

Girls Creating is a Positive Impact Events campaign to inspire women to talk about who has inspired them, empowering the next generation to create the lives that they want and make a difference.

Since 2016 we have been part of storytelling initiatives and have been inspired by wonderful examples of women and girls in our lives.

International Women’s Day is a once in the year opportunity to celebrate the achievement of women in the world. In 2020 the theme of the day is equality. Throughout March expect to see #eachforequal trending through your social media and be ready to get involved because, as an industry with a majority of women workers, this is a unique opportunity to raise the profile of what event professionals do.

For the fourth year running the team at Positive Impact Events are in action to make it easy for event professionals to get involved and take action to further United Nations Development Goal 5: Gender Equality. This year the campaign’s call to action is to ‘acknowledge someone who has inspired you to champion equality’ and for the first time ever the campaign is being co-created.

Courtney Stanley, the 2020 co-creator, has a range of awards and acknowledgements for her work on equality but most importantly is in action on this subject within the event industry, most recently with her #daretointerrupt podcast. Courtney explained her interest in co creating the campaign:

“I appreciate that this campaign is centred around taking the time to acknowledge and thank women who have supported and inspired -this action will create a strong foundation for collaboration across the industry and collaboration is vital as we continue to tackle challenging topics including pay equality, sexual harassment and equal access to professional development”

- Courtney Stanley

In 2019 over 60 event professionals took action to acknowledge their peers and colleagues who had made a difference in their career journey and over 11,000 event professionals were part of the conversation. See our 2019 campaign highlights.

This year the call to action is for every event professional to take the time to celebrate those women who have inspired equality either by posting via the unique online system below or via social media using our toolkit.

This International Women’s Day, event professionals can also watch our webinar with inspiring female CEO leaders from around the world and read interviews on overcoming challenges, inspiring future generations and the importance of equality. This International Women’s Day use your voice to acknowledge someone who inspires you and create a foundation of collaboration to tackle the equality gaps that still exist.

Tell us the story of who inspires you

Last year, we heard about the many women who have empowered, inspired and supported. We want to continue to acknowledge differences made by women in the event industry.
